lyrics

Aesop told me a story
A story that'll live on forever
I heard a story once, child
A story that you should hear

You should listen, child

I heard a story once
From a man named Aesop
I heard a story and I did not sleep for weeks
I was haunted by Aesop

Can you hear my story child?
Will you hear my story child?
Listen to my story, please do.

Once upon a time
There was a fox and a squirrel
The fox he was a clever thief
But the squirrel
He knew the way the world went then
He knew the way the world went then

Child, the fox tried to climb up a mountain
And he couldn't do it
The squirrel, he had a pretty hat,
The fox said, "What can I go do for it?"
The squirrel said "No, This is my hat!"
The squirrel said "No, This is my hat!"
The squirrel said "No, This is my hat!"
The squirrel didn't want to give it.
So the fox came with his children
And beat the living squirrel
He said, "Wait here as I get my family, you'd better not move"
The hat watched the squirrel,
As the squirrel played dead
Eventually the squirrel woke up and tried to put it on it's head
And the hat said "Fox, Where are you? Where are you?"
And the fox came running back,
And he did what he'd always do
He beat the squirrel into submission
He knocked the squirrel right out
And the squirrel played dead again
The squirrel played dead
And the fox went to get his children
To skin the antelope
But the squirrel woke up, through the hat in the fire
And took the antelope
Up in a tree
And fox came back with his children three
And he said "Squirrel are you hiding from me"
And "Hat where are you, where could that antelope be"
And Squirrel yelled "I'm up in the tree" From up in the tree
"This antelope it belongs to me, would you like some"
"I could give you some, what you want from it"
And squirrel threw down the antelope's spine and crushed the fox's children
And there was only one fox left after the killing

Aesop told me a story
A long time ago

Tell me a story!
Wake me up!
Tell me a story!
Wake me up.
